Disinfectant wipes are a convenient cleaning product, but they can be harmful to dogs and cats if chewed, swallowed, or licked. These pre-moistened cloths often contain quaternary ammonium compounds, alcohols, phenols, or fragrances that irritate the mouth, stomach, and skin. Even a small piece of a wipe can cause choking or intestinal blockage, while the chemicals may lead to drooling, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Pets are most commonly exposed when they chew an open container, lick a freshly cleaned surface, or walk across wet floors and then groom their paws. Cats are especially sensitive to phenols and strong scents
