Bird of Paradise

Bird of paradise is a striking tropical plant with banana-like leaves and exotic orange and blue flowers. While less toxic than many houseplants, the seeds and fruits can cause gastrointestinal upset and drowsiness in pets.

Most exposures are mild and resolve without treatment. To prevent chewing, place bird of paradise in a location pets cannot access, or choose a pet-safe palm for a similar tropical statement.
