Desert Rose

Desert rose is a succulent shrub with a swollen trunk and showy pink or red flowers. It contains cardiac glycosides similar to those in oleander, making it extremely dangerous to pets. All parts of the plant are toxic, with the sap being especially hazardous.

Ingestion can cause vomiting, diarrhea, abnormal heart rhythms, seizures, and collapse. Pet owners should avoid desert rose entirely and choose safer succulents or flowering plants for the home.
