Dracaena

Dracaenas are popular houseplants with slender, spiky leaves often striped with red or cream. They contain saponins that can cause gastrointestinal upset in pets. Cats may also develop dilated pupils and signs of weakness.

Most dracaena ingestions result in vomiting and drooling. The leaves are tough, so large amounts are seldom swallowed. Place dracaenas on tall stands or in rooms pets cannot enter, and consider pet-safe palms as alternatives.
