Monstera
Monstera deliciosa is a social-media favorite thanks to its dramatic, split leaves. It is toxic to pets because it contains insoluble calcium oxalates. Cats in particular may be attracted to the large, textured leaves.
Chewing monstera usually causes mouth irritation, drooling, and vomiting. Severe reactions are uncommon. Providing pet-safe plants such as spider plants or Boston ferns can help redirect chewing behavior away from toxic houseplants.
