Raaw Energy raw dog food recalled over Listeria monocytogenes risk

Raaw Energy has expanded a voluntary recall of its raw dog food after testing found Listeria monocytogenes contamination. First announced in late May 2026, the recall now covers more than 180 lots distributed nationwide, with notable East Coast distribution. The FDA issued a public alert, and several pet illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled products. Listeria poses a serious risk to both dogs and the humans who handle the food, particularly young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. The recall has been widely covered by pet-industry, food-safety, and national news outlets as it continues to expand.

RCL Foods pet food and treats recalled over Salmonella risk

RCL Foods has issued a recall for certain pet food and treats due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall covers products intended for dogs and may affect other pets as well. Salmonella can cause illness in animals that consume contaminated food, and it can also infect people who handle the product or touch contaminated bowls, surfaces, or pet waste. Infected pets may develop vomiting, diarrhea, fever, lethargy, loss of appetite, or abdominal pain; some animals can carry the bacteria without showing symptoms. The issue was first reported in early March 2026 and was followed by additional coverage confirming the Salmonella risk. Because the bacteria can spread through a household, owners should treat the recall seriously. Pet owners should verify whether any food they have is included in the recall, immediately stop feeding it, and disinfect food bowls, storage containers, and feeding areas. Veterinary care is recommended if a pet shows signs of illness after eating the recalled food.
