PEDIGREE wet dog food recalled over possible metal and plastic contamination

Mars Petcare has voluntarily recalled two lots of PEDIGREE Can High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor wet dog food after product that was slated for destruction was allegedly diverted and sold. The recall, announced by the FDA and company, covers cans that may contain sharp metal and plastic foreign material, posing risks of choking, cuts, or internal injury to dogs. The affected product was distributed nationwide and appeared at retail locations. While no pet injuries are confirmed in the reports, the presence of hard fragments in wet food is a serious hazard. Dog owners should locate any matching cans, stop feeding them, and return or safely discard them. Checking lot codes and UPCs against the official recall notice is essential. This case also highlights how diverted or fraudulently distributed pet food can reach consumers, underscoring the need for supply-chain vigilance and recall monitoring.
